Our short month of February has turned out to be quite busy! First, the dentist came to visit. Ms. Lisa, and Ms. Kim, from Growing Smiles Dentistry, visited to talk to us about keeping our teeth strong and healthy. Accompanied by two toothy puppets, each child had a chance to practice their toothbrushing technique with a professional! We also have teeth nomenclature on the shelf, as our students learned that our teeth have different jobs and different names.
We also had a Valentine's Day celebration. Each child had a bag as a "mailbox" and everyone delivered their own Valentine cards and gifts to their friends. Thank you to April Lucey for labeling bags for each and every one of our students! As we've celebrated Presidents' Day, the Montessori class is learning about Presidents and especially the Presidents on our money. It's a math AND history lesson! The younger friends can count coins and observe their tiny markings, while older children learn to exchange pennies for nickels and dimes, and look carefully to find which President's portrait is on which coin or bill. Finally, I want to say thank you to all families who contributed to our Stone Soup. It was a great success! The kiddos took real pride in preparing a whole soup.
