For a three-day week, Montessori Children's House sure packed in a lot of learning! Beginning Monday, we dyed eggs, expanding on our recent lessons about primary and secondary colors. Each child got to choose up to two primary colors to mix for their own custom egg to bring home. On Tuesday, we had a special guest presentation. Mrs. Zalen, Elizabeth's mother, taught us about Passover. She explained the foods served for Passover and their significance in the history of Jewish people. Everyone got to taste matzo, an unleavened bread, and parsley. Thank you, Mrs. Zalen, for your sharing your family's traditions with us! On Wednesday, the whole class went to church to follow the Stations of the Cross. We prayed, while listening to a narration of each station. Then, because it was the last school day before Easter Sunday, Ms. Rachel unburied our Alleluias, so we raised our voices in celebration of Jesus' ascent to heaven!

As we get ready for our Easter break, Ms. Krista and Ms. Teresa are thinking about summer. We are holding Summer Adventures again! Each session lasts for five mornings 9 am- 12 noon, Monday through Friday:
June 24-28 All About Animals July 15-19 Water Science August 5-9 Fun with Food We will have lessons specific to our theme, introductory Montessori lessons, as well as ample outside play time. Each week costs $150 per child. So mark your calendars, and look for Registration forms to come home soon! Hello again from the Montessori Children's House. This month, we will be learning about, and celebrating, Easter. Ms. Rachel has worked with the children during this Lenten season to teach them the true reason for celebrating Easter - and that reason is that Jesus rose again after his crucifixion! They continue to follow Jesus' journey through the stations of the cross during their daily Lenten devotions.
Next week, we plan to color Easter eggs! We have had lessons about primary and secondary colors. Primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. Secondary colors are the ones we get from mixing equal amounts of two primary colors, resulting in orange, green, and purple. We have color-mixing water on the shelf for everyone to use. We will put what we've learned to use when we mix colors to dye our eggs. Earth Day is on April 22, which is right in the middle of our Easter break. We will learn about Earth Day before break, but after our break, we will all make our own paper through recycling. |
