We will celebrate Mother's Day as a community with the Kindergarten class with a tea party. Invitations are going home on Monday. We will gather on May 12, at 10:15 am (after Mass). If you'd like you may accompany your child to church, at 9 am, and then go right to the tea party. We will have a performance very soon upon arrival, so please be prompt! It is a half day, so you may take your child home immediately after, if you like. Of course, for full-day children, they may simply go at the regular noon dismissal. Hopefully, we will have some newly-hatched chicks in the room that you may visit during our Mother's Day tea. If you are willing to keep the chicks for a few weeks (or for good), please contact Miss Rachel!
During the month of May, we will begin our unit on botany. We will begin with a food lesson about the different parts of plants we from which we get our food. We will also explore seeds, learn to recognize common seeds, and then sprout and plant some in our garden. It will be a month full of bright, new green life! On another note, as it is getting warmer and sunny, please send your child in with sunscreen applied, as well as hats or sunglasses as needed. We will go outside as frequently as possible to partake in the fresh air.

Hello and Happy Spring from the Montessori Classroom! Our class has spent this last week learning about Earth Day. We put our knowledge of recycling to use by recycling our used paper to make new paper.. Every child made their own piece of paper at our "Paper Recycling Factory," which was set up like an assembly line. Working to make one piece of paper, made us all stop and consider how important it is not to waste the paper we have! We also have eggs in the now-working incubator. We are counting down to their "hatchdays" with a paper chain. Today, there are 18 links in the chain; we expect our chicks to hatch on May 9. Next to the incubator is a tray that holds a model of the egg as it looks at this stage of development. Miss Rachel is also giving several circle-time lessons about eggs and chickens. Please say a prayer that our chicks will be healthy and strong!
