This week, we have delved even further into the world of conifer trees. We have learned the differences between them and deciduous trees. We have read about how they are planted and grown to become Christmas trees. Miss Rachel compared their continuous green throughout all seasons to God's love for us, which is also unwavering.
I have mentioned to the students that I would like everyone to bring in a small conifer twig (and/or cone, if possible) to see how many kinds we can collect. Please bring in to school by Tuesday. We continue collecting donations of gifts for St. Agnes families. Please bring in your donations by Wednesday, December 18. Next Thursday, December 18, Montessori will participate in a Christmas Concert in the Church. The concert begins at 7 pm, so please have your child at the Montessori room by 6:40. Students may wear festive/holiday attire. As always, Montessori students will exit the church after their performance, where parents may pick them up to return to the concert or go home. Thank you! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

First, thank you to all who attended Parent/Teacher Conferences. We are all partners in your child's education, so it's important that we all keep communicating. For those who haven't met with the teachers, you can still schedule a time, usually during our early afternoons or after dismissal. Our phone numbers are listed on this site, or you can reach us through the Remind App.
This month, of course, we are talking about Christmas (as if the children would let it be otherwise!). Miss Rachel holds Advent Devotions every morning with the class, when we prepare our hearts for the coming birth of Jesus. On December 5, Montessori celebrated St. Nicholas Day. Students put their shoes by their cubbies, and, while we were listening to Miss Rachel read a book, St. Nicholas visited and left some treats in them! We are also learning about conifer trees. We continue to explore the hibernation and migration habits of various animals. It also seemed appropriate to learn about the continent of Antarctica , its climate, and its wildlife. Please note: On Thursday, December 19, at 7:00 pm, there will be a school-wide Christmas Concert. Montessori students have been practicing songs, and they will be among the first to perform. Due to the later hour, Montessori families will collect their children after their performance, and then have the choice to stay or go home. The Christmas - New Year break is from December 23 - January 3. School resumes on January 6. |
