What a busy time of year. The beautiful sun and blue sky is calling us outside, while we enter the home stretch of events for the end of the school year. We are taking advantage of the summery weather by gardening, holding special events outside (like our ice cream sundae bar sponsored by the Mineo family), and of course, visiting the playground as much as possible! This next Friday, June 1, is our Spring Concert. It begins at 7 pm, and contrary to what was previously announced, will take place in the church. Please bring your child to the Montessori classroom by 6:40 pm, and then you may find seats in the church. After our class's performance, we will go to the foyer of the church, where parents can pick up their children and either go home or back into the church to watch the rest of the concert. The children have worked so hard with Mr. D for weeks on our song! The next Friday, June 8, we will have our End of the Year Celebration. Weather permitting, we will picnic outside. I will let everyone know the minute we have the Sign-Up Genius on the school's website. We ask all families to sign up to provide either food, beverages, paper products, picnic blankets, etc. The Celebration will begin with a song at 10:00 am, and then we will eat. It is a noon dismissal for full day students, so feel free to take your child when you leave, but of course, the bus will be available for bus-riding students to take home. The Friday after that, is the last day of class for the Montessori students. We will attend church as a class, and watch our Kindergarten students' graduation. We realize that not every Kindergartener is moving on to first grade, but every Montessori Kindergartener is invited to participate in graduation. Of course, in the end it is up to each family. June 15 is a full school day. Since we have an End of the Year Celebration on June 8, we will not have a reception after the graduation ceremony. On Tuesday, June 19, the School Picnic will be held. It is a day of multi-age games ending with a picnic lunch. Kindergarten Montessori students only are invited back for the day of the picnic. Bus transportation is available for this noon dismissal day. Children will be grouped with other students from different grades, led by two teachers for each group. It's a fun, action-packed day!
