Hello again! The Montessori Children's House marked the beginning of Lent this past week. On Ash Wednesday, everyone went to church to receive our ashes. Then we learned, along with the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades, about the significance of the pretzel during Lent. Ms. Teresa read a story called "Brother Giovanni's Little Reward," which told us how a kind monk formed little treats in the shape of crossed arms to encourage students to learn their prayers. You might have seen a synopsis of this story sent home. We also used play-doh to form our own pretzels; it's not as easy as it seems! Then we enjoyed some delicious, freshly-baked soft pretzels. Our full day students participated in SoulCore, a prayerful program that implements stretching. A thank you to all who donated toys for Jared Boxes. These special boxes are meant to make hospitalizations of children a little less stressful.
This month, our class's learning themes are Nutrition, Sea Life, and Spring. Second trimester report cards will be available on Thursday, March 14.
