The Montessori Children's House students said goodbye to March by wrapping up our unit on nutrition. Each day, we tasted something from a different food group. As always, our children learned about taking "one polite bite," Then we would survey the children to find out if they liked or didn't like a particular food. Some who took reluctant tastes found out that they enjoyed the new foods!
April will be a busy month for us. We will talk about colors and color mixing, which will tie in nicely with dying eggs for Easter. Speaking of eggs, we will continue the tradition of hatching eggs in the room, which is always an exciting time. Lastly, we will learn about and celebrate Earth Day, by learning about recycling paper. Ms. Rachel continues to practice daily Lenten devotions with the children. Each week, she has chosen a different cantor, who leads the other children in song. They are also talking about the stations of the cross, "following" Jesus on his journey to crucifixion, to prepare for the Easter celebration of his rising.
