The calendar tells us that spring is here, and the weather even seems to agree for the most part! We hope that everyone had a happy Easter and a restful and fun spring break. We are continuing, for these last few days of March, to learn about food groups and nutrition.
We would also like to tell you about a special program that Ms. Krista has implemented. Our full day Montessori students, one afternoon a week, have a standing appointment to read with Mrs. Kahrimanian's sixth graders. Each student has been assigned one or two older reading buddies, and they work together to choose books and read stories. Some of our friends are able to take turns reading with their older buddies, while others enjoy listening and following along. It has become something to which both classes look forward! Next week, our April theme will be about our Earth's environment, and about the animal kingdom that inhabits it. We will learn how animals can be classified, into groups such as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and insects. What do these animal groups have in common, and how are they different? We will use the children's natural love of animals to spur research and discussion about these questions.
