Greetings from Montessori! We had a shorter week, but we were busier than ever!
On Tuesday, March 14, schools nationwide staged "walkouts" for 17 minutes to protest gun violence. St. Mary's participated by saying the Rosary in church, as a community. Our Montessori class stayed in the classroom, so that Miss Krista could explain to the children the purpose of the rosary. Students who brought in their rosaries were able to share theirs with their friends, so we saw different styles and colors. We felt it was the most meaningful way to participate in this important event. Miss Rachel will also assist children in making their own rosaries in the atrium. We also explored the MyPlate model of food groups. Students are using food models and creating "meals" on the MyPlate dish. They can also make their own books diagramming and labeling the different food groups. We will soon be introducing a unit on rocks and minerals and land and water forms. This is another concrete way to explore the wonderful and beautiful world around us! Report cards went home yesterday. Please read it over, sign the last page, and return it to school as soon as possible. If you'd like to conference with us, please contact Miss Teresa or Miss Krista to schedule a time. We are usually available after dismissal. Alternatively, we might ask to conference with you. If we do, we'll send a message. Thank you all for your participation and cooperation!
