Hello, again, Montessori families! And Happy March! March is going to be a month for exploring our food groups and basic nutrition. Using the My Plate guidelines, students will learn to recognize foods as a grain, protein, fruit, vegetable, or dairy product. We've already had a headstart for all those who stay for and buy their lunches; the plates we use are modeled after the My Plate program! Next week, we'll have food tasting every day, from a different food group. We love food tasting, because it is good to try things. As we say in the classroom, we expect the children to take at least "one polite bite."
Report cards will be going home on March 17. There is no day set aside to schedule a conference, as there was in November. Please read over the report, and if you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 435-5783. I will not be able to answer during school hours, but if you leave me a voicemail, and let me know a good time to call, I will. The weather seems to be getting steadily warmer. We anticipate being able to send snowpants home for good by Easter break. Also, we will be sending rest supplies home for washing. Please make sure your child is still dressed for the weather, as we hope to get outside a LOT more! While it may be warm enough to go without a jacket from the car to the school, a jacket may be needed for a half hour on the playground. We thank you all for keeping this in mind!
