Hello from the Montessori Children's House! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather we've been blessed with. This past week, we were able to go outside a bit more often, as it warmed and somewhat dried up! Please remember, we go outside whenever possible, so dress your child accordingly. We are continuing studying the solar system. One of the most popular lessons is a work that shows our place in the solar system. They are called the cosmic nesting boxes. As you might notice, this work is similar to the pink tower, in that they can be stacked sensorially, from largest to smallest. However, each box is hollow, so that they can nest to be put away. The largest shows The Milky Way Galaxy. The next shows our Solar System. The places depicted on each box get smaller and more detailed, down to the individual child. There are also printed labels for our readers to match to each box.
Our students continue to practice our Spring Concert songs with Mr. Magowen. Remember, everyone performs on May 31, at 7 pm. Also, our school's virtue project this month is collecting gently used t-shirt for citizens of Nicaragua. Each year, it becomes a contest about which class can contribute the most. We are very far behind! Please check your closets and send in any spare t-shirts you have! Our End of the Year Picnic is fast approaching. This is a potluck-type gathering; soon, there will be a sign-up sheet online to volunteer to bring a dish, or other essentials. Keep the morning of June 7 open! We hope to see everyone! As of now, we are expecting chicks to hatch on May 28. Say a prayer for every chick, please!
