Hello! Even though Spring is slow to arrive (and stay), the Montessori class is celebrating new life and renewal during the month of April. Miss Rachel received fertilized eggs from Kelkenberg Farms, and 7 of them are now sitting in the incubator. The eggs themselves are very interesting. They range from quite small to very large, from white to tan to dark brown, to green! We can only guess what the chicks will be like! Of course, we know there are no guarantees in life, so we are preparing students with the possibility that some may not hatch. Next week, our class will learn about Earth Day, and we will recycle paper. Each child will make his or her own piece of paper recycled out of discarded paper from our recycling bin. Of course, all year, we have strived to recycle not just paper, but plastic and cardboard, as well as composting organic materials such as leftover snack and lunch. A flyer will be sent home about Care Cases of WNY, which is Montessori and Kindergarten's special service project for April. Care Cases help provide dignity and continuity to foster children, by giving them some personal belongings and a suitcase to carry them in. Please note that you do not have to donate for any particular age group, or donate a whole packed bag. Donations may be given outside the Montessori classroom, and also outside the school office.
If you haven't already received one, Mother's Day Tea invitations are coming soon! Please join us on May 11 for this special event. Our Spring Concert will be on Friday, June 1, beginning at 7 pm.
