I hope everyone had a peaceful and joyous Easter! It's been lovely seeing all of our students again after such a long break. Please remember, if you haven't already, to send back your child's rest mat as soon as possible.
Ms. Rachel will be going to Kelkenberg Farms to get eggs to put in our incubator. We will spend the rest of this month learning about eggs and the chicks that will hatch. It is an awe-inspiring experience, to observe the miracle of life. April is also the month in which we celebrate Earth Day. To commemorate the holiday, the Montessori class will focus on recycling paper. Each child will complete the steps to make their own piece of recycled paper. Hopefully, when they see how much work it takes to make paper, they won't be so quick to waste it! Our service project, which the Montessori and Kindergarten classes will spearhead, is for sheltering the homeless. Care Cases of WNY provides suitcases and tote bags filled with items for foster children, customized for boys and girls of various ages. Having their own possessions as they move from home to home gives them a sense of continuity and dignity. Bags can contain personal care items, stuffed animals, journals, workbooks, or storybooks. Items can be donated directly to the Montessori classroom for the rest of April.
