Last Tuesday, our much-anticipated chicks began to hatch. We were lucky enough to witness the first hatchling, and catch it on video. What a wondrous miracle for the children to witness! Five out of seven of the eggs hatched over the course of three days. On Friday, May 11, we will co-host a Mother's Day Tea in the cafeteria with the Kindergarten class. We will begin after Mass. Both classes will attend Mass at 9 am and sit with their own classes. When Mass ends, shortly before 10 am, we will go directly to the cafeteria for food, gifts, and celebration. Please make every effort to meet your child in the cafeteria by 10 am. We ask that students wear their Sunday best for Mass. Additionally, it will be a noon dismissal, so there will be no lunch or rest for full day students. For the month of May, the Montessori class is learning about seeds and plants. We will sprout seeds, plant some in our community garden, and learn about the parts of plants, especially the vegetables and fruits that we eat. Tonight is Open House, from 7-8:30 pm. If you know someone who is looking for quality Catholic K-8 education, please invite them to come tour St. Mary's. Finally, May's Service Project is collecting t-shirts for the needy in Nicaragua. Please consider donating gently used t-shirts, any sizes, for this important cause.
