Next week will be our last week of school for our Montessori friends! As always, it will be one of the busiest weeks of the year. Friday, June 14, is when our Kindergarten graduation and End of the Year Picnic will be held. The whole class will go to Mass at 8:50 am. Kindergarten graduates will wear Sunday best; all others wear uniforms, please. After Mass, there will be a short graduation ceremony for both our and Mrs. Talbot's Kindergarteners. Then the Montessori class will go back to our classroom for our picnic. In the case of inclement weather, we will use the cafeteria. Otherwise, we will have free reign of the yard outside our room and the playground! June 14 is a noon dismissal. While our last day is June 14, there will be a school-wide picnic/field day on June 18. Only the Kindergarteners from Montessori are invited to come back to participate. Those students will be assigned to a multi-age team that will compete together, under one team color. Then they will enjoy a picnic lunch. June 18 is also a noon dismissal. In other news, our chicks continue to grow and thrive. Our students had a chance to observe them running and trying to fly at circle time! We continue to learn about what these creatures need to be healthy, and are quickly realizing why they need to go to a farm soon! They need more space and fresh air! Family visitors make learning meaningful for our students. We've had several times where our children learn from each other. Humza Siddiqui and his mother, Erum Qureshi, brought in books about Ramadan and Eid-al-fitr. Even though the holy month of Ramadan requires fasting, we learned that it didn't have to apply to children, and Humza's mother brought in lots of delicious food for us to feast upon! Eid-al-fitr is the end of Ramadan fasting, and a time of celebration and family gatherings. Thank you, Mrs. Qureshi and Humza, for sharing part of your lives with us!
